Designing Your Own
Wedding Ring
Okay, you’ve looked up
and down the high
street, you’ve searched
early corner of the
Internet, but you still
can’t find a wedding
ring that you like.
What do you do?
Panic right? Well
no, not quite yet.
Have you considered
designing your own
wedding ring?
For a little bit more
money you can create
your own wedding ring,
how cool would that be?
Imagine wearing a
totally unique wedding
ring that you and your
partner have designed. |
|
Okay, if you want to
build your own wedding
ring the cost in doing
so will be higher than
if you purchase an off
the shelf ring that
everyone can buy.
However, you may be
surprised that
commissioning a jeweller
specifically create your
own wedding ring isn’t
as expensive as you may
think.
What’s more, the design
will be totally unique;
nobody else will have a
wedding ring like yours.
So where do you start?
Typically the process of
a handcrafted DIY
wedding ring goes
something like this:
First, if you intend to
have a diamond wedding
ring you need to decide
how the diamond is to be
shaped. Generally there
are six main designs,
these are:
Round Shaped
Princess Shaped
Marquise Shaped
Heart Shaped
Emerald Shaped
Oval Shaped
There are other shapes,
but these are the most
popular. Next you
need to select the carat
size.
|
|
|
The larger the
carat the bigger the
diamond, and generally
the more expensive the
wedding ring will be.
You will also be asked
how pure, you would like
your custom diamond
wedding ring to be.
Obviously, the more
clarity the diamond has
the better the ring is
considered.
When it comes to
choosing the band of the
ring then there are
endless options.
However, to help you
out, here are the most
popular:
|
|
Typically, yellow gold
is the most traditional
and is a symbol of
marriage and warmth.
You will be able to
choose the quality of
gold by specifying 14K,
18K or 24K. The higher
the number, the purer
the gold is, but the
softer it is too.
Is very popular as it
matches very well with
either silver or
platinum.
The hardest metal and
therefore a wise choice
when you design your own
wedding ring. Although
it’s more expensive than
gold there are no
impurities and the
quality of platinum
wedding ring always
shines through.
When my wife and I got
married we decided upon
a custom made platinum
ring with a thin gold
band directly above and
below. We have no
regrets on our decision
and the rings today look
as good now as when we
first purchased them.
